Car, Truck & Van Hire Port Lincoln

The Driver must (i) hold a full, current and valid driving licence (not being a learners licence or provisional licence), (ii) have an International Driving Permit (IDP) or official translation (if a licence is not in Roman alphabet), (iii) have held their licence for minimum 12 consecutive months immediately prior to signing the Rental Agreement.

An International Driving Permit is not a stand-alone document and this must be carried with your valid domestic driving licence for it to be valid.

Digital drivers licences are only accepted in the issuing state. If you're travelling interstate you must present a physical (plastic) drivers licence.

The minimum age to drive a vehicle with Avis is 21 years of age. All drivers must hold a current, full and valid driver's licence, that has been valid for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. A young driver surcharge may apply.

When you return your rental car to Avis, you must do so with a full tank of fuel. We also ask that you remove all your personal belongings from the vehicle. Finally, please return the car to us in a clean state, ready for the next customer to drive.

If you return the vehicle before the original return date (early return), you will not be refunded any portion of your payment. This does not detract from your rights as a consumer under applicable consumer protection legislation, including the Australian Consumer Law.

You'll find Avis' car hire branch right by Port Lincoln airport to the north of the town. The Lincoln Highway runs between the airport and the downtown area, and there is a filling station along this road. Plenty more fuel stations are found in Port Lincoln itself. In Port Lincoln, and right across SA, there are only two default speed limits – 50 km/h in built-up areas, or 100 km/h in rural areas. There may be other speed limits, however, and these will be indicated on signs in specific locations. Always look out for these signs when you drive.
